Grade 310S

310S stainless steel is a versatile and high-performance grade that offers excellent corrosion resistance and heat resistance at high temperatures

Chemical Properties

Mechanical Properties

  • Corrosion resistance: 310S stainless steel exhibits exceptional resistance to oxidation, sulfidation, and carburization, making it suitable for applications in harsh environments and corrosive conditions.

  • High-temperature strength: This grade retains its mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, with a high melting point of approximately 1400-1450°C (2550-2640°F), making it ideal for use in high-temperature applications such as furnace components, heat exchangers, and kilns.

  • Oxidation resistance: 310S stainless steel forms a protective oxide scale when exposed to high temperatures, which helps prevent further oxidation and maintains its integrity in challenging conditions.

  • Creep resistance: The alloy's composition provides excellent resistance to creep deformation, allowing it to withstand prolonged exposure to high stress and temperatures without significant distortion or failure.

  • Weldability: 310S stainless steel can be readily welded using common techniques, such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), and gas metal arc welding (GMAW), ensuring ease of fabrication and assembly.

  • Applications: Due to its outstanding high-temperature properties, 310S stainless steel is widely used in industries such as petrochemical, power generation, aerospace, and heat treatment. It is commonly employed in furnace parts, radiant tubes, boiler components, and exhaust systems.
